Continual Renovations Improve Mahanaim’s Facility
New windows throughout the building will bring an added aesthetic to the interior of the facility and more warmth through the cold winter season

After the last quarterly Board of Directors meeting for the school, it was decided that Mahanaim needed a makeover, not from the outside, but on the inside. The structure, which was built in 1937, is one of the most sturdy buildings in Northern Long Island, but has been deathly cold during the long winter seasons of the past two years. In an effort to insulate the building completely, Mahanaim has been undergoing window construction for the past three weeks.

With over 260 windows throughout the three floors of the building, the task to insulate Mahanaim’s entire facility was seemingly impossible. Two key professionals were dispatched from Korea to design, execute, and manage this enormous project. Hyuk Jun Kwon, an accomplished architect from Seoul and master carpenter Kyo Hwan Bae of Masan city, have dedicated their time and effort in making this project a reality. Already, over two-thirds of the designing and labor have been finished. This building project is foreseen as to be finished by mid to late December; plenty of time to spare before Mahanaim’s projected February 2009 start.

This window project is just one of the many levels of renovation Mahanaim has undergone since acquiring the facility in June of 2007. Mahanaim’s completely repainted auditorium, the existing library being converted into an all-purpose gymnasium, and countless landscaping improvements to its campus have allowed the administration and school benefactors to gain confidence in its ability to provide quality post-secondary education, but an optimal learning and living environment.

More to come as the window project rears towards completion.
