Mahanaim opens its doors to famed pianist Sergei Babayan and the Huntington community for an evening of live classical and modern music
Mahanaim School, located at 300 Nassau Road, Huntington, NY, will invite world-renowned musical artist Sergei Babayan to Mahanaim Auditorium on December 5th, 2008 at 7:00 PM for the first concert in a line of Guest Concert Series events to be held through 2009.
This piano concert marks the fifth time Mahanaim has presented a live music event to the community. It also provides Mahanaim with an opportunity to inform Huntington on its mission and vision, as well as the educational programs it is planning to offer from the 2009 spring term.
Mahanaim has invited Sergei Babayan to perform a diverse repertoire in efforts to display the passion it shows for quality music. The administration also hopes to showcase the level of instructional talent it plans to offer prospective music students in the very near future.
“We’re thrilled that we’ll be able to showcase the standards of classical music that Mahanaim upholds when it comes to performances and music education,” said Kristi Castro, Mahanaim school director. “We also see it as a good chance to let the public know exactly what we’re doing with our facility and what we have planned for the upcoming year.”
“Now that we have our license, it just opens up a lot of opportunities for us,” Castro added. “What Mr. Babayan brings to this concert isn’t just high-level performance, but an important milestone for our school.”
Sergei Babayan is a renowned pianist known for his unequaled emotional intensity, bold energy, staggering virtuosity, and vast amount of performance experience, spanning the U.S., Japan, and the U.K. He has collaborated with world-famous conductors such as Michael Christi, Valery Gergiev, Hans Graf, David Robertson and Yuri Temirkanov. Babayan currently performs around the world and serves as artistic director at the Cleveland Institute of Music.
The Sergei Babayan piano concert will be a one-night engagement only. Admission is free to the public. Free parking is also available on a first-come first serve basis. Mahanaim is located off of Woodhull Road, at the intersection of Woodhull Road, Nassau Road, and Route 110, in Huntington, NY.
