Hyeonah Kim, the first prize winner of the Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition’s recital has been held Sunday, May 19th at 6:30pm in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, 57th Street at Seventh Avenue.
Hyeonah Kim is a first prize winner of the 2004 Joongang Piano Competition, 2006 Piano Competition, 2013 Daehan Art Society Piano Competition, 2010 Gracias Music Camp Competition, 2011 Gracias International Competition, 2011 Baroque Chamber Competition, and Haneum Chamber Music Competition, all based in South Korea. Ms. Kim was among a handful that graduated with honors from Joongoo Education Institute for Talented Students in Seoul in 2006. Ms. Kim studied at Gracias Music Preparatory School in Daejon, Korea, where she received the prize for Best Performance upon her graduation.
She continued her studies at Gracias Music at Mahanaim, located in Huntington, NY and was granted a full scholarship based on her extraordinary piano skills. She has previously studied under Anastasia Dedik, Tsoy Alexander, Helena Abalyan, Eunsook Lee, and Junghe Won. She also participated in masterclasses with Igor Lebedev, Pavel Rakerys, Anna Rychikova, Minja Shin, and Youngran Oh. Ms. Kim has graced the stages of a broad range of venues around the world. In addition, she serves as a volunteer performer for hospitals, churches, and retirement communities.
Following after Sunghyaun Suk, currently a student at Gracias Music at Mahanaim and the winner of Outstanding Performance Award at the 2013 Metropolitan International Piano Competition, Hyeonah Kim’s winning of the First Prize at the B & B International Piano Competition has drawn great attention to Mahanaim’s music education and its level.
